There is an expandable, accordian-like elastic on the back waist of the pants. It may be concealed with a wide belt or perhaps an untucked shirt. Not bad for the price.

THE ELASTIC GOES FROM SIDE TO SIDE AROUND THE BACK. IT IS NICE. (MY HUSBAND HAS A PAIR WITHOUT THE ELASTIC AND IT'S TOO TIGHT AROUND THE WAIST) WITH THIS PAIR IT IS NOT TIGHT AT ALL. ACTUALLY HE WILL TRY ON A SMALLER PAIR, SINCE HE ONLY GOT A BIGGER SIZE TO FIT HIS WAIST.

YES. The elastic runs hip to hip at the waist.

The elastic is the material on the back of the pants and only is on the back half, making it less noticeable. I love these pants, they can be worn for casual or dress.

There are several inches of elastic on each side of pants waistline. You can tell where it is since the belt line area with elastic inside is bunched up in little accordion like folds.

If removed from both machines asap you'll have no problem.

You can wash and wear them, but a slight ironing will help restore the initial crease. Be certain to wash in COLD WATER ONLY---and make certain that you buy the pants TWO SIZES LARGER than what you normally wear. Even when washed in cold water, these pants shrink!!!!

Luckily these turned out to be a little more wash and wear than my previous twill slacks of another brand. Of course, ironing will make them nicer, but I have yet to touch an iron to mine. Don't let them cool in the dryer after it stops, though. Get them hung or folded right away.

The waistband is elasticized halfway around, giving a comfortable fit for big men. Makes dieting a lot easier. Can't get these in-store in the size and color variety one can online. Waist size and length were just as advertised and ordered; consistent sizing. Blue and black colors very close in coloration, meaning the blue is a very dark, almost black, blue. Beige is a darker color, not a summer bright beige. Gave these to hubby for Hanukkah present, so he got (at least) eight pairs. Then got him the next size down when he lost weight.
